Bespoke Three-Day Wedding Visual Identity at Aethos Ericeira, Portugal

Small, intentional details make a real difference to the guest experience and show care for those attending.
For Nina and Julian’s celebration, this sense of intention and the intimate, elegant atmosphere of all three days was reflected across the entire visual direction.

The guest experience began the moment everyone arrived. Each person received a welcome gift: an embossed cotton-paper folder with personalised cards inside.

Day One — Welcome Evening

The first day, the Welcome Evening, was inspired by the natural surroundings — the cliffs, the ocean and the architecture of the venue. The atmosphere was elegant, calm and effortless. The stationery for this evening was created from natural materials: cotton paper printed in letterpress and displayed in custom walnut stands. The welcome and table signage were printed on soft cotton fabric and finished with a beautiful brown ribbon. For the bar menu, I drew a custom line illustration made especially for this evening, printed in letterpress and finished with chocolate linen bookbinding. The bar menu, table numbers and food menus were all displayed on matching walnut bases to keep the visual language consistent.

Day Two — Ceremony, Cocktail Hour and Dinner

The second day, which included the ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner, required separate stationery for each part of the schedule, while keeping the focus firmly on the guests. Before the ceremony, the couple exchanged personal “briefs” — To my bride and To my groom — which we designed to feel intimate and elegant. For the ceremony itself, we prepared embossed vow booklets, translated ceremony booklets for international guests and fans that I painted and calligraphed by hand.

During the cocktail hour, we created the bar menu, welcome signage, custom graphics for the selfie mirror and a large soft-cotton welcome sign featuring the couple’s favourite phrase: “My atoms love your atoms, it’s chemistry.” The cocktail napkins were printed in letterpress with different fun facts about the couple, adding a personal tone without breaking the aesthetic. All signage and menus were placed on custom-made ceramics created by a workshop we collaborate with. The colour and texture were selected carefully after several tests to match the décor and menu styling.

For the dinner, we designed three versions of the menu, printed in letterpress and embossing on cotton paper, complemented by separate drink cards. On the tables stood delicate embossed cotton-paper numbers in custom-made ceramic stands. The table plan was integrated directly into the draped décor because we wanted it to feel like part of the space rather than an external element competing with it. Each guest received a personal letter from the couple, printed on custom stationery with their monogram and placed in a calligraphed envelope. The party section had its own signage as well, again displayed on custom ceramics to maintain continuity of materials and form.

Day Three — the Farewell Breakfast

The third day, the Farewell Breakfast, had a softer and more relaxed character. The welcome piece was printed in letterpress on bookbinding board and placed on the same custom ceramics as the bar menus. As guests departed, they received embossed paper bags filled with small keepsakes, including custom matchboxes, postcards and other thoughtful items prepared specifically for this event.

This project is one of our favourites. Its complexity, the care put into every detail, and the trust throughout the process made it truly special. We loved working with Katharina and her team, and with Nina and Julian, whom we also had the pleasure of designing for at their civil ceremony.

We are grateful for the chance to be part of their celebration.
